Koerner Camera Systems is proud to be associated with Cheryl Strayed's "Wild" starring Reese Witherspoon, nominee for best actress by both the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Produced by Fox Searchlight, Witherspoon portrays Cheryl Strayed's troubled character while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in the mid 90's.

This gritty and honest adaptation of Strayed's memoir is eye-opening and inspiring. Director of Photography Yves Bélanger, CSC (Dallas Buyer's Club) teams up once again with director Jean-Marc Vallée (Dallas Buyer's Club) to give Strayed's journey a real and minimalistic look.

The equipment used in Wild included two Arri Alexa XT cameras shooting Arriraw to Codex along with Zeiss Master Primes for contemporary scenes and Zeiss Super Speeds which were used for flashback scenes.  The amount of light used on Wild was minimal most of the film was shot with available light without even altering it.  The challenging focus pulls were pulled off with the heroics of first assistant camera Paul Santoni.

"Wild" truly showcases the beauty and diversity of the State of Oregon.  Over 55 locations were utilized in the filming of "Wild", more locations than any other film shot in Oregon to date.  These locations included difficult and foreboding terrain along the Pacific Crest Trail from Southern Oregon, the Central Oregon High Desert to Mt. Hood and The Bridge of the Gods.
